My name is Rebecca Tibbetts and I’m the assistant principal for the Business, Computer Science and Mathematics department. In the business and computer science department we have a wide variety of classes that offer a fundamental understanding of the business world in addition to computer science courses from introduction to the Microsoft Suite 2007 to Microsoft Academy professional certifications.
Here at CK, we have 4 computer labs; 2 computer labs that are equipped with 36 networked computers with Internet access, 1 tear-down lab were students gain valuable hands on experience, and 1 wireless lab equipped with 22 wireless networked PC and Mac computers with Internet access and a color laser printer. We are also a certified Microsoft IT Academy where students obtain professional certifications, gain college credit and provide them with technical skill training for IT internships.
In the area of Math the basic curriculum for all students in New York State is the following; Integrated Algebra I, offered in 9th grade, Integrated Geometry in 10th grade, and Integrated Algebra II and Trigonometry in 11th grade. Completion of all three Regent courses with the minimum grade requirements will give students the opportunity to take Pre-Calculus, College Algebra and Trigonometry, or Discrete Math or an Advanced Placement course. Here at Christ the King we offer AP Calculus and AP Statistics.
Teachers in the Math, Computer Science and Business Departments are true professionals who are an excellent support system to the students of Christ the King RHS. Teachers are seen helping students before and afterschool and during lunch periods. It is our goal to help students to master their academic skills and to build a foundation to achieve success in higher level courses as well as for college.
