The Microsoft Information Technology Academy Program supports academic institutions in developing a highly trained global workforce for the 21st century. The Microsoft IT Academy Program is an alliance that supports the delivery to world-class training on Microsoft networking and developer technologies. The courses aggressively prepare students for degree tracks and certifications that lead to careers as network administrators, programmers and system managers. With the growth of the IT industry, companies increasingly rely on technical certifications to identify and validate skills. Currently our program leads to the CompTIA A+and Microsoft Certified Professionalcertifications.
Entrance Requirements
Students may choose to enter the MITA in the beginning of their junior year. The class is a two-year commitment and will fulfill 2 elective credits. Entrance into the MITA is contingent upon successful completion of 7011 - Intermediate Computer Science in the sophomore year with a course average of 80% (B) or above.
Course Work
The first year of the Microsoft IT Academy (MITA I) is focused on the hardware component of the A+ exam. The course work will involve lecture, discussion, and hands-on practical experiences involving installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing components such as:

The second year of the Microsoft IT Academy (MITA II) focuses on the software component of the A+ exam. The course work will involve lecture, discussion, and hands-on practical experiences involving installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing components such as:
- Operating Systems (Windows 95,98,2000,XP)
- Installation and Troubleshooting
- Formatting and Partitioning Hard Drives
- Drive Security
- General Windows Troubleshooting
- Networking Configuration
- “Soft Skills” – Working with users, qualities of an effective technician
