The purposes of campus ministry are to present an environment or community where it is possible to grow in both the knowledge and love of God, to enable people to recognize their own God given dignity and gifts, and to encourage people to reach out and to share God's love. This is all done in the Catholic tradition.
All of us are going to present opportunities for each student to become aware of who God is. God's first gift to us is our humanity. God so loved us that Jesus came as a human to show us the value of human life in both the ordinary and the extraordinary circumstances of our lives. All that we are and have is gift. Each student here is a gift from God that the parents entrust to us.
Not all education is in the books or on the playing field. During these four years, we will present opportunities for all of our students to be in God's presence in prayer, in retreats, in discussions and in outreach activities. We encourage all students to develop their own maturing relationship with God and with all of God's people.
It takes a lifetime to learn about the gifts that God has so freely and generously given to us. However, we will start by having an open hand, an open mind and an open heart to receive and to give. God has given us gifts in our students, in our teachers, in our coaches, in our administration, and in our Board of Trustees. These are gifts not just for ourselves. God has given us these gifts and resources to be shared with everyone that we meet and with those we don't meet in our world. All are part of the human family. All of us are part of God's family. Together, we can make a difference in our world.
Each day, let us pray that God will continue to bless us.
